Projects

University of Limerick, Running Track

The works required the removal and disposal of the existing track surface, the removal and replacement of the existing perimeter fence and gates, along with the excavation and disposal of material for and construction of a new retaining wall and track sections.
New kerbing was placed to form a new 100m straight to the track with inside a perimeter drainage channel provided to include sumps and connection to the existing storm collection sewer.

The existing 400m, 8-lane, all-weather running track required upgrading to IAAF Certification with the provision of a high-quality running track for the use of students at the University of Limerick and athletes in general. The specification of the new track required the installation of an IAAF approved Full Pour Non-Porous Cast Elastomer System complete with line marking. The new surface was tested in accordance with the IAAF Track and Runway Synthetic Surface Testing Specifications as incorporated in the IAAF Track and Field Facilities Manual. In addition to the track and drainage improvements, the existing Water Jump, Long Jump and Sand Pits were upgraded.
