TOBIN provided full Civil and Structural Engineering Services for the detailed design of the social housing residential development at Pinewood, Balbriggan, which consists of 20 semi-detached, timber frame units. These rapid build homes have been built to the highest specifications and received an A3 energy rating. This was delivered as a rapid design and build contract for Fingal County Council.
This project was constructed on a steeply sloping site, which required civil solutions to minimise the cut / fill and simplify construction. We were able to resolve all civil engineering issues in line with acceptable limits and in an efficient manner.
As part of the project, we fully assessed the condition of the site and adjoining structures and services and we liaised directly with Irish Rail to design local boundary walls in line with their requirements. We liaised with the Local Authority and Irish Water to co-ordinate the surface water, foul and watermains. Another unique element of the project was the tie into the existing housing estate through road levels and pedestrian access points. This had difficulties due to the steep sloping nature of the site which we were successfully able to resolve.
