Moycullen village is located some 13km north west of Galway City on the N59 Galway – Oughterard Road. As a satellite town of Galway City, the village of Moycullen has seen significant expansion in recent years. Given this expected increase in population and with the original sewage treatment works overloaded, Galway County Council appointed TOBIN to provide engineering consultancy services associated with the Moycullen Sewerage and Sewage Disposal Scheme. The Brief included the preparation of a Preliminary Report, Contract Documents, Project Management and Supervision for the scheme. Works involved upgrading of the existing sewers and the construction of an upgraded wastewater treatment plant and constructed wetlands. The new treatment plant can cater for populations of up to 4,000 persons over two distinct streams.
