Junction Improvements at Frenchpark

The N4/R281 junction in Frenchpark, Co. Roscommon, had been a longstanding safety concern for the community. TOBIN were entrusted with developing solutions to address these challenges and delivered a comprehensive design for a traffic light system, managing the project from Feasibility to Construction, including Part 8 Planning.

The new design incorporates several key safety enhancements, such as dedicated pedestrian facilities, improved sightlines, and measures to reduce vehicle speeds, all while carefully retaining on-street parking to support local residents and businesses.

TOBIN’s Roads and Transportation team worked closely with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Roscommon County Council throughout the process, fostering collaboration to achieve an innovative and effective solution. The result is a safer and more functional junction that balances the needs of all road users and the community it serves.
