In September 2022, Castlebanny Wind Farm was granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanála, and TOBIN were delighted to be the Lead Planning & Environmental Consultants on this project for FuturEnergy Ireland and ART Generation.
This 21-no. turbine wind farm in Co. Kilkenny with a 35-year life span, is a Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) wind farm, including a 110kV loop-in substation.
This wind farm will prevent the emission of over 3.8 million tonnes of carbon over its lifespan and will have an output of between 105-126MW, sufficient to supply the equivalent of between 66,072 and 79,286 Irish households with electricity per year, which will significantly help achieve Ireland’s renewable energy targets for 2030 and beyond.
