2018: Winners of the Engineers Ireland ‘Engineering Project of the Year’ Award

One of the greatest accomplishments that TOBIN Consulting Engineers achieved in 2018 was being honoured with the 2018 Engineers Ireland ‘Engineering Project of the Year’ award for their unrelenting work on the Kerry Central Regional Water Supply Scheme.

This Irish Water project, in association with Kerry County Council, was undertaken by our Water Services Team in TOBIN Consulting Engineers, Nicholas O’Dwyer Ltd., and Glan Agua Ltd. The €30 million development is now providing a safe and secure water supply for over 62,000 residents as well as the industrial and agricultural sectors in the region, and subsequently serves the more than 1.1 million tourists who visit the region annually across Tralee, Killarney, Castleisland and Castlemaine. Furthermore, the scheme’s new water treatment plant is also among the largest in the country, and provides over 50 million litres of drinking water every day. With the improved quality of water now readily available, the 62,000 local customers have been removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Remedial Action List (RAL).
