The facility is a single-storey building and consists of an Indoor Training Area including a 4-lane 130-metre running track with performance analysis facilities, a dedicated boxing gym consisting of 4 training rings and one full-size competition ring, as well as lecture space, physiotherapy and medical treatment rooms.
More than 180 top athletes, spanning 18 different high-performance sports, are based in this state of the art centre. The venue also provides support in the areas of physical conditioning, testing, rehabilitation, nutrition, physiology, medicine, precision analysis and education.
The project included a significant amount of refurbishment and reconfiguration works, as well as a large extension to the existing building.
TOBIN was subsequently shortlisted by Engineers Ireland for the Engineering Project of the Year Award for this project.
