The Volvo/Citroen Car Showroom is located on a serviced 15-acre site within the City North Business Park in Galway. The building consists of a 7.5m high single storey car showroom and workshop with mezzanine offices over a basement carpark (59 spaces). The basement is of reinforced concrete, while the main structure is of structural steelwork with precast hollowcore flooring with the external envelope finished in architectural wall cladding and curtain walling.
TOBIN works involved:
– Structural Design of foundations and superstructure.
– Civil design of foul and storm sewers, design of storm attenuation
and watermains.
– Design of road and building levels etc.
The showroom development connects to all onsite existing services previously designed and constructed, where Tobin Consulting Engineers were the Consultants for the Kenny Group Galway. The initial servicing of the 15-acre site required the design and development of a new vehicle access on to the Tuam road. It also required the extension of the storm water and foul sewer from the existing services. Tobin was responsible for the design of the access road and the extended services which was agreed with Galway City Council and delivered to their requirements and specifications.
