Johanna Lane is a fourth-year Civil Engineering student at the University of Galway and has joined the Roads & Transport Division for an eight-month placement at the Galway Office. After completing her placement, she will progress into her integrated master’s year and is on track to graduate in 2027.
She has studied a broad range of civil engineering subjects, including structural design, environmental engineering, hydraulics, BIM, and geotechnical engineering. Johanna also gained international industry experience as a Design Engineer Intern with Ward & Burke Construction in Calgary, where she worked on trenchless wastewater projects, helped prepare design packages, and gained on-site experience with microtunnelling operations.
Alongside her studies, Johanna has worked as a maths tutor, Student Ambassador, and gigging musician. In her spare time, she enjoys songwriting, theatre, and outdoor activities.
